The moment I walked in I was greeted. I had never had Haitian food till then and May introduced me with samples and absolute kindness. Besides the great experience, the food was the main spectacle! FAN FREAKING TASTIC!! That cabbage was so good I came the next day! I highly recommend!!!

First timer! I got the chicken stew with black rice, a beef pâté, and a few griot (fried pork). I’m familiar with the Haitian cuisine, and I’ve been craving it so much. Found this place on google just looking to grab something to eat for lunch and headed there as quick as I could. The owner May, she’s really friendly and has a great sense of humor. Even if you aren’t familiar with this type of cuisine she’ll be more than happy to explain anything to you! The food was great, clean establishment, and it’s only been there for a year. I’ll definitely be coming back to try the Mac & Cheese and everything else on the menu. Don’t be shy! Stop in and have an experience!

This was my first time trying Haitian food and it will most certainly not be my last! Everything tasted amazing The beautiful business owner inside was so helpful and very generous with letting me try things before purchasing. Super positive energy and outstanding customer service. She even had pepper sauce for sale for me to bring home and share with my family. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to everyone.

We arrived just as May was closing up. She brought food back out insisted we should sit down and enjoy. We sampled a number of dishes, each of them absolutely delicious. Fantastic food, fantastic welcome. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could.

This Haitian restaurant is run by an amazing woman whose warmth and passion truly shine through in every detail. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed like family. The service is attentive, friendly, and genuine—it’s clear that hospitality is just as important here as the food. And speaking of the food—it’s absolutely incredible. Every dish is rich with authentic Haitian flavors, cooked to perfection, and served with love. You can taste the care that goes into each plate, from the seasoning to the presentation. Don't forget to quench your thirst with her amazing passion fruit juice. The vibe of the restaurant is just as special: comfortable, inviting, and full of energy. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger, share stories over a great meal, and come back again and again. Utica is lucky to have May’s Kitchen. If you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favor and go—you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit. Thank you again for an incredible meal that reminded me of home. Bon Bagay!!!

My wife and I ordered Mays for the first time, the second we opened the door you seen a women behind the counter with a bright smile. It's a very homey atmosphere which i love. We ordered the chicken stew bone in and chicken stew boneless. Food was amazing I cant wait to go back for more. Definitely worth trying.

My first time having haitian food and I was impressed. I had the boneless chicken and it was so tender and delicious! The strawberry lemonade was not too sweet and also great. May has a great personality that makes it feel like you're eating at home. Can't say enough positives about the experience.

Five stars isn’t enough for May’s Kitchen! This is hands down the best Haitian food I’ve ever had. Every dish is full of authentic flavor, perfectly seasoned, and made with love. From the griot to the Black rice and pikliz, everything tastes homemade and unforgettable. If you haven’t tried it yet you’re missing out!
